BLURB
Working as a camera operator for a hard-nosed producer isn't all fun and games. Kina is seriously thinking about making this reality show her last. She's known as being 'cold-as-ice' when it comes to men, which is appropriate since they're filming in Alaska. Before she can figure out what she wants to do with her life she had to make it through this show. The contestants aren’t exactly lumberjack material and the challenges range from ridiculous to downright dangerous.

The Alaskan reality show is Jonathan’s last gig before he goes to work in security with his brother. The shoot would be completely miserable except for the fact that the one woman in the world who is meant to be his is also a camera operator on the show. He has no idea how he’ll manage it, but he is determined to win her heart and convince her to move to Arizona to be with him.
Following in the footsteps of the contestants isn’t a walk in the park for the camera operators. Fighting boredom and drama within the crew, hiking across glaciers, and camping in the Alaskan wilderness isn’t as safe as it seems on television. An injury on the set will either bring Jonathan and Kina together, or tear them apart for good.

EXCERPT
Jonathan took a deep breath then said baldly, repeating what he’d already said once. “I like you, Kina.” He’d decided to go for it. Kina was a no- nonsense type of woman and he figured she’d appreciate his candor more than his beating around the bush. It could backfire on him, but he couldn’t stand being around her and watching her flirt with other men and generally not know he had feelings about her. When she didn’t say anything but only looked at him incredulously, he continued, “I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but it’s true. I admire you and want to get to know you better.”Kina was floored. That was so not what she’d expected him to say when she agreed to come into his room. Before she thought about it she blurted out, “Are you drunk?”

He laughed. “No hon, I’m not drunk. I just wanted to get that on the table so you’d know where I’m coming from. I don’t expect you to reciprocate in kind yet, but I feel like you have the right to know.”

“Since when?” Kina said, still waiting for him to laugh and say, “Gotcha” as if it was all a big joke.

“Since I met you in Arizona,” Jonathan answered honestly. He always wanted to tell her the truth. He didn’t believe any kind of relationship could flourish if there wasn’t honesty between two people.

“Wh-what?” Kina was completely floored. She knew she wasn’t the type of woman to inspire thoughts of lust and the immediate “like” that Jonathan was claiming he felt for her. “I-I don’t know what to say,” she managed to stammer out.

“Please, don’t say anything. I hope to Christ you’ll give me a chance to show you I’m a good guy. Just get to know me over the next weeks and I’ll prove it to

you.”Kina shook her head. This was crazy, but deep down inside something unfurled in her gut. Could he be for real? She’d have to guard her heart just in case, but God, it was such a heady feeling. She didn’t really think he’d want to be with her, not after hearing all about her messed up history with men.

“You’re in charge here, Kina,” he told her unexpectedly. “If you want to talk to me, let me know. If you want to hold my hand, take hold. If you want to kiss me, I’m all for it. But, you’re in charge. I won’t push my luck, but I will try to convince you to give me a chance. Be forewarned, hon.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Texas where she lives but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, and Indiana. She is quite the romantic and even met the love of her life on "Hotmail classified" before online dating and sites like match.com even existed!

Susan has been reading romance novels since middle school and once crossed out the names of the main characters in a book and changed them to her own and to the name of her crush. She's been writing scenes for years, developing her unique writing style.

Susan loves writing but her true passion is adopting dogs from rescue groups and shelters. Susan and her husband have had a total of nine "rescued" dogs since 2000 including a variety of basset hounds and bloodhounds. She has recently branched out and adopted a basset/terrier mix who acts more like a terrier than a basset (i.e. digging, eating a couch and being hyper). If you love romance and want to help her support adopting great dogs, be sure to check out her work listed below.

The first series, Beyond Reality, is a trilogy, with all three books in the series having Happily Ever After endings with no cliffhangers.
