Payton is scared. Of dark parking lots, her home, men in general, and so much more. Of course she has every right to be after her boyfriend ran and left her to get mugged and beaten alone. Even after more than a year she's still scared except around Max, with him she's safe. But when it takes the day before he's called back to the service for them to finally come together, they part wondering if their time will ever really come.

Max is sweet, strong and caring. An alpha male with enough ego in him to fill up a swimming pool but he does everything he can to help those he loves. And when it's his girl that's in danger he will do anything it takes to protect her and make her safe. What should be easy is made hard by the person targeting them.

Their story has enough humor to keep you laughing so hard you crying, it also has enough action and terror filled moments that the tissues will be used even more. There's a little bit of everything and seeing Max's story after all this time was great and Payton's story was definitely interesting to see as well. Great read and I'm looking forward to more of the story of the Freebird men and the ladies they attract.
