Mia gazed around the land. Beyond the embankment, the forest stood staunchly behind its silvery mist. A natural curiosity held her focus to it. She was at a safe enough distance to really study it, and she couldn’t resist indulging in the temptation of doing so. After all, the forest held such mystery – it was impossible not to be intrigued by it. But the longer she watched it, the more uncomfortable it made her. Suddenly she felt extremely exposed, as though she was no longer simply watching, but was, in fact, being watched.
Mia glanced around, intimidated by the thought of eyes upon her. There was no one around; she was alone. Although perhaps that wasn’t a good thing.
When she looked back to the forest, the rain before her eyes seemed to distort her vision. It was as though the flow of rainfall was different somehow. And as it progressively worsened, she could barely see her own hand in front of her face. Now, the rain was no longer falling straight down, but rather it was dropping diagonally and in zigzag patterns, as though it had been caught in a ferocious whirlwind.
A familiar breeze caressed her wet hair. Mia stiffened instinctively. A Hunter was near.

OUR REVIEWS

4 Stars

Life changes fast when you find out you're a witch like Mia and Dino did. Now at a castle for the summer they must learn about their abilities and how to control them. They also have to figure out their way in this strange new world and who they can trust and who is out to get them. As they learn more about themselves they also have to get a better understanding of everything around them.

Mia is young and a bit naive but she tries to looks for the best in people and trusts her instincts to guide her. She cares sometimes it seems to much but her heart is in the right place.

Dino it took me awhile to warm up to, but once I began to understand his power I realized why he was having such a hard time. Plus he is a teenage boy so being surly is a natural part of him.

The additional characters each also brought something to the mix and I enjoyed getting to know them as well.

Interesting story about magic, but also about two kids growing up and finding they way.

Uprising book 2

4.5 Stars

Mia time at the castle taught her allot, but leaving it all behind and going back to the normality of school is hard especially when she finds out someone is after her. Her and her brother Dino escape back to the glass castle once again and this time even though they know more about themselves they still have growing pains when it comes to their powers and who they can trust.

She became close to Colt over the summer, but is the memory better than reality or will they find their feeling have only gotten stronger?

As they work to uncover the mystery of who is after her for her power loyalties will be tested and trust will be hard to find amongst themselves. When it all comes crashing down how much will the betrayer have taken from them?

Mia has grown stronger as a person, even though she is still learning about her powers. She lets her instincts guide her and while some might think her foolish for it you see how much stronger she really is.

Dino is trying to find himself after the disaster that was last summer, and he's determined to do everything he can to be different from his father. I enjoyed seeing more of him in this one and seeing his growth.

Great addition to this series I was sucked into the story from the start and am excited to see even more from this series in the future.
