she encouraged her students to explore different times and new worlds
through literature.  Now, when Karen isn’t living in reality with her husband

4 Stars

Kate is captivated by the new guy and what makes it great is he seems to be just as interested in her! Nick is there when allot of strange things begin to happen to Kate and he's always there at just the right time to protect her. As the two get closer things continue to get more and more strange until Kate is forced to see a truth most people don't see and it makes her life all the more crazy as she tries to figure it all out.

Kate is 17 and a bit naive as to wanting to not see the truth of situations going on around her, but as more and more strange things happen the box she tries to put them in gets harder and harder to keep shut. What I would have liked to see is a little more maturity from Kate but after all she was just a teenage girl trying to understand things that were beyond her.

Nick is a sweetie always there to help her, but sometimes I just wanted to strangle him into telling more about what was really going on.

To me this was mostly an intro into what I'm sure will be an exciting series, but it just seemed to drag out as I waited and waited to finally find out just who and what the characters were. Once that happened though I enjoyed the story all the more because it felt like I was finally on the inside track as to what was going on.

You go on this journey with Kate never seeing or knowing more than she does and I'm excited to see more of her story!

✯★✯SPOTLIGHT REVIEW✯★✯ The Dark Side Of Chemistry (The Chemistry Series #1)  by S.J. Higgins

The Dark Side of Chemistry
by S J Higgins

When Trent is given orders to leave his lab and to deploy to Afghanistan to test a highly confidential and dangerous serum which he has developed, Skyla can’t shake the feeling that the life she has with strong, dependable, loving, Trent is about to irrevocably change.

Her fears are soon realized when an unknown enemy, intent on revenge, grabs hold of hers, Trent’s and Trent’s unpredictable brother Jensen’s lives and plays puppet master.

A dangerous formula, a well kept secret, love and passion will change the course of three people’s lives more than they would ever have dreamed, or feared, possible.

Meet the Author

S.J. Higgins lives in South Africa with her husband and two children. A little over four and a half years ago, the tiniest seed of a story took root in her mind. In rare quiet moments, driving to work, on her way to meetings, in meetings, that seed grew until one day she found herself wondering if she should write the story down. From the first words on paper everything changed, every spare moment become an opportunity to write and that is when The Dark Side of Chemistry was born.

4 Stars

Trent and Skyla have been together for three years they met because he was working for her father on a secret military project. When that project requires him to go into a combat zone things for the two of them begin to change. We begin to see secrets that have been kept and the consequences of them. As Trent and Skyla are supposed to have their happy reunion everything get even more out of control as someone comes in intent to destroy their lives.

Trent is a sweetie put in a difficult position because of his work, but keeps on going because he believes it's the right thing to do.

Skyla is in a difficult position because of past choices and while I liked her character at the beginning I just wanted to smack her upside the head as the story continued because she kept making the same mistake over and over.

Jensen has been put in a terrible spot and while his choices may have put him there initially, there should have been a way for him to figure things out better than how he did.

The story has a bit of several different genres making it interesting as you try to keep up with what's what and what is going on. It keeps you interested and I read this in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down.

Were there times when I wanted to smack the characters? YES! But now I just wanna see how things turn out as this ended in one of those truly evil cliffhangers!

Through His Heart (Minds Eye #3) by Deborah Camp

Title: Through His Heart
Series: Minds Eye #3
Author: Deborah Camp
Genre: Suspense Romance
Release Date: June 30, 2015

“Sending you an SOS.”

When psychic Trudy Tucker hears this plaintive cry in her mind and then connects psychically with a little girl’s kidnapper, she is drawn to a small town in Missouri where everyone is suspect – including herself and her lover, celebrated psychic detective Levi Wolfe. As she and Levi work together to sort through whom and what to trust, an innocent life hangs in the balance.

A shudder raced through her and her stomach knotted. Nausea rose up to her throat as darkness descended in her mind.
“I’m sending you an SOS. Sending you an SOS. An SOS.” Can you find me? Can you hear me?
“I hear you,” Trudy whispered, answering the small, trembling voice.
“Did you say something, Rachel? Are you singing something?” This was a different voice in her head. A deep bass, but gentle. Coaxing, cajoling, cunning.
The darkness parted like a curtain in Trudy’s mind and Rachel came into view. She sat in a child’s white rocking chair, her red tennis shoes dangling inches from the floor. A wedge of purple discolored her right cheek. Her lips twitched and her chin quivered.
“Be a good girl and do what you’re told and that won’t happen to you again. No one wants to hurt you. You gotta obey, though. Can’t say ‘no’ to your elders. Your mama should have taught you that.”
“It hurts.”
“Want me to kiss it and make it well?”
Rachel rounded her shoulders, making herself smaller. “Nuh-uh.”
“Okay then. I could make it stop hurting though . . . I’ll read you a Bible story. How about that? Remember what we talked about? God is way up here . . . then there’s his disciples right here . . . and then your elders . . . and you’re way down below that.”
Glimpses of hands . . . moving up and down, illustrating the levels. Dirty nails, dry skinned knuckles.
“Where’s Mommy?”
“Are you hearing me? This is important.”
“I want to talk to Mommy.”
“She doesn’t want to talk to you! God gave you to us. Your mommy is busy serving the Lord and now you’re here serving us because it’s been ordained. Quit touching your face! That won’t help it heal. Come sit in my lap while I read. Did you hear me ask nice? You won’t like it if I have to ask twice. That’s my good girl. You act like this all the time and you won’t get any more boo-boos.”
Was he kissing her? Was he licking her?
