Illeana Jacobs knew the day she met Stacy Lorde he would steal her heart from
her. She just didn’t expect him to break it or that one day they would
come face to face again. Reminding him how they come from different
worlds doesn’t seem to faze him at all. When you’re dealing with a man
who is very used to getting what he wants, when he wants it. Now, face
to face with her past she must try to deal with her broken heart while
trying to keep it away from him. It might be an impossible task, because
her heart just refuses to let go of the one it loves.
Stacy
never got over Illeana. He had never let go of the hope that one day he
would find her again. Which side of the tracks she was born on never
bothered him. There were others in his life, for whom it made a big
difference. As far as he was concerned, Illeana is the perfect woman for
him. He will do anything and everything in his power to show her that
she is the only one he wants, even if it means turning his back on his
family.
The woman of his dreams had walked out on him once. It would be a cold day in hell before Stacy let her walk out on him again.
EXCERPT
“Hello Illeana.” He said quietly behind her. Slowly, she turned around and the woman who had stolen his heart, crushing it, and just walked away from him gasped with her mouth open in shock. “It’s good to see you again. I’ve missed you.”
She paled right before him. “Stacy,” the breath seemed to rush out of her as well as his name. “What— what are you doing here?”
“I’m an investor, or did you forget that? I should be asking you the same thing, however. Didn’t know this was your home town, but then again you did like to keep things to yourself.”
“Don’t do this here.”
“Do what?” She shook her head and turned to walk away. He would normally grab hold of her arm and stop her, but instead he followed her. “Running away again?” She stopped when they were away from any people who might be able to hear them and turned back to face him. “What do you want?”
“Now isn’t that an interesting question,” he cocked his head to the side.
“Go back to your meeting Stacy, then go back home where you belong.”
“Where I belong is where I say I belong.” She huffed at him and turned away again, walking faster. He rushed up to her, grabbing her arm this time to stop her. “Oh no, you’re not going to run away this time.”
“Let go!” she said through her teeth.
“You ran from me once, there won’t be a second time.” Illeana jerked out of his hold but she didn’t move away either. He opened his mouth to speak again, but he got cut off. “Is there a problem here?”
Stacy turned to a guy who followed them out.
“No,” Stacy answered. When he turned back to Illeana she had used the distraction to leave and she left quickly. The only way he would be able to get ahold of her now was by running after her and that would draw too much attention. “Shit.” Rubbing the back of his neck, he turned and went back into the meeting. He looked around, found Jessie and made his way over to him. “Hey, um something has come up and I’ve got to call it a night.”
“You’re leaving already?” Jessie asked.
“Not town. I’ll be, um, think I’ll be staying for a few days after all, so send over some of the ideas you have and I’ll look them over. The marina for sure has my attention. This place is very nice, but I want to hear your other ideas. You always did have some good ones.”
“Sure, I’ll get some of the stuff together and over to you in a couple of days.” Jessie said.
Stacy shook his hand, “Sounds like a plan.”
He couldn’t get back to the room fast enough. In fact, the moment he walked into it he had his tie off and jacket in hand, working on the top buttons of his shirt. He yelled for Jay as he walked down the stairs to the bedroom. When Jay finally showed up, Stacy was already changed into jeans and boots, and was looking for a t-shirt.
“Meeting ended sooner than planned.”
“Has for me. Illeana is here.”
“Ah, yes I just discovered that.” Stacy stopped with his shirt hanging on his arms. Jay smiled and handed him a small piece of paper. “Her address. I figured you might be interested in it and would want to know how to find her.” Stacy finished getting the shirt on and took the paper. Jay went on. “She has a book shop that isn’t doing that great and works at the local library. Her small home is also located right over the shop, and she lives alone.”
“This is great.”
“I won’t wait up.” Jay left and Stacy read the address a couple more times to make sure he had it in his memory. After seeing her tonight there was no way in hell he was going to let her run away from him again. This time he was going to do everything he could to simply get her back and keep her this time.
