Lost Daughters of Atlantis Series by Allie Burton

YA Series

Atlantis Riptide (Lost Daughters of Atlantis Book 1)

Synopsis

Sixteen-year-old Pearl Poseidon ran away from the circus tired of her adoptive parents’ abuse of her special skills. As a runaway, she craves anonymity but when she saves a small boy from drowning she draws attention to herself and her special abilities. Boardwalk employee and aspiring investigative reporter, Chase Thomas, helps her with the rescue and witnesses her amazing dive.
Now, he has questions. And so do the police.
Unbeknownst to Pearl, a battle rages under the Pacific between Loyal and Non-Loyal Atlantean forces and each to use her powers for their cause. Will the commotion in the ocean expose her secrets to the world? Will Chase’s reporter-determination ruin their chance for a real relationship? Will staying near the ocean she loves catapult into a battle royale?

Our 5 Star Review

Pearl is unique and she's been used because of it since she was a little girl. When she finally runs away she comes to Mermaid Beach, California there she begins to truly live and finally understand who she really is.

This story was unique in it's type of supernatural characters which is great when your tired of reading about the same old things with every book. I had fun seeing Pearl learn who she is as a person and learn to trust herself and other people when she has had such a hard life before escaping it. Chase had his ups and downs but in the end his choices made me love him even when there were times I just wanted to slap him upside his head.

Atlantis Red Tide (Lost Daughters of Atlantis Book 2)

Sixteen-year-old Atlantean, Princess Coral, secretly plans to find her lost sisters of legend. Before she can escape the palace to begin her quest, she is kidnapped by Finn Plankson, a Non-Loyal Atlantean.

A spy for the Separatist movement, Finn knew Coral as a child. When he sees her being mistreated by Royal Guards he takes action.

As their adventure changes from antagonistic to a temporary truce, Coral must convince Finn to help her find her sisters before the battle between the Loyal and Non-Loyal forces erupts into a full scale war.

Coral fondly remembers Finn, her first crush, but can she trust him now that he’s aligned with her enemy? In the end, will Finn betray her and her sisters? And what are these strange sparks that go off whenever they’re together?

Our 5 Star Review

We were introduced to some of the characters in the first book. This one is Pearl's sisters story, Coral.

Coral was the only princess to come back when she was supposed to, but because of a deception by someone closest to her she doubts who she really is. Determined to find her sisters she tries to escape the palace only to by thwarted and later kidnapped by someone from the enemy side. Her childhood friend and crush Finn takes her away from New Atlantis and as she tries to figure out his motives she also remembers her feelings for him. As they begin to get closer Finn tells her he'll help find her sisters, but what will happen on their journey and is he truly converted to her side or is he secretly still a separatist?

Coral has allot of hidden strength that she finds in herself as the story unfolds. I loved how she learned to believe in herself no matte what anyone told her. Finn was such a softy even if he tried to act tough. I could see why he kept secrets from Coral, but was happy when they figured thing out in the end.

Atlantis Rising Tide (Lost Daughters of Atlantis Book 3)

Synopsis

Junior lifeguard Maris Sanders thinks she’s a normal high school girl. In reality, she’s one of the lost princesses of Atlantis. At sixteen, she’s finally discovering her special powers.

Exiled from his community of Atlanteans, Cuda Fisher has taken a special interest in Maris. As he secretly tests her abilities, the two teens grow closer until Cuda realizes being with Maris is risking more than his heart.

An evil scientist is analyzing Maris’ skills and putting her in danger. Cuda realizes his father, a leader of the Separatist movement, is behind the scheme and Cuda will do anything to stop him even if it means breaking Maris’ heart.

Will Maris accept her real identity, or still hurt by Cuda’s betrayal will she fall prey to the scheme? Will Maris be able to choose between the life she’s always know or a new dangerous adventure? And will the choice be hers?

Our 5 Star Review

Maria was never allowed near the water by her parents when she was younger, but now at 16 she's working as a lifeguard and is discovering that she is different. She begins to see herself differently after rescuing Drik her first day and as strange things keep happening around and to her, but the one person who she thinks knows what going on won't tell her anything. As Maris gets closer to Cuda and she tries to understand who she is and whats happening others are working to capture her and use her for their own gain.

I felt bad for Maris after seeing how she was kept from the truth for so long, but it was nice to see at least one of the sisters had a good upbringing with people who really loved her. Cuda and his rules just about drove me up the wall until you see why he did things the way he did. So glad to see all three sisters finally together.

Atlantis Tide Breaker
A Lost Daughters of Atlantis Novella

Synopsis

Worried about her best friend Maris’s safety and heartbroken over a faux summer romance, Tori Kelly is nervous about starting her junior year of high school alone. Only Maris—who’s too busy trying to stop an underwater war—knows Tori hides her super smarts under a façade of bubbly dumbness. This time Maris is not around to help Tori continue the charade.

Before the first day of school Tori finds Gill, an Atlantean Royal Guard, in her best friend’s attic. Gill pretended to be interested in Tori this summer to secretly protect Maris. Now he’s back on a mission to retrieve the key that opens a powerful message from Poseidon.

A message that will destroy the enemy and win the war.

Tori helps Gill solve the puzzle putting herself and her reputation in danger. But will working together draw Tori and Gill closer or pull them apart? How will Tori survive being dragged into an underwater war when she can’t breathe in the ocean? And when she discovers the message, should she reveal it’s devastating secret?
Our 5 Star Review

We met Tori briefly in Maris' story and in this one you get to see who she really is and how much she truly cares for Maris.

When Tori finds Gill in Maris' house searching for something she becomes determined to do anything she can to help her best friend, even is it means working with the guy who used her and broke her heart over the summer. But as they work to try and figure out the code the sparks between then threaten to explode.

This was a great Novella where you get to see everyone come together and get an idea of how things are going to go down the line.

Our thoughts on the Series

I loved how you got to know each character in their own book and then got to see their growth in each subsequent novel. The author takes mythology and myth and adds her own twists turning these into a great series for readers of all ages.

The final book in the series is scheduled to come out in Spring 2014 and is one of my top picks I'll be anxiously awaiting for in the new year.
