Love to Bear: A Werebear Shifter Romance by A.T. Mitchell

Synopsis

Samantha Aarons left Sioux Falls with a broken heart for a fresh start in the Montana wilds. Outside Kalispell, the native bears are strange and ferocious – especially when a hulking grizzly steps out of the woods and frightens Sam half to death.

Werebear shifter Don Flood can't believe his incredible luck. The beautiful woman he discovers on patrol just might be his fated mate! The delicate flower faints after seeing him turn into a man, and Don sees his opportunity to charge straight into her heart.

But love makes men do stupid, dangerous things.

The Grizzly Bone Clan has a standing policy against allowing humans on their turf. Still, Don refuses to let the Elders' prejudice steal her away, doubling down on love after Sam reveals the key to the Clan's flatlining population.

Sam soon adores the passionate, wild love of her dominant grizzly man. But Happily Ever Afters never seemed further when a wicked conspiracy threatens to scatter their fate forever.

Can she survive becoming his mate...or will she feel heartbreak twice?

Our 3.5 Star Review

Samantha is out in the wilderness trying to repair her broken heart. When she gets lost in the forest and comes across a bear she tries to protect herself by spraying it, bit the bear moves out of the way and becomes a man. Don is mesmerized by the beautiful angel who comes across his path and when she faints at the sight of him shifting he brings her home to keep her safe. But her being there is a big no no and when she is discovered a council comes to a compromise allowing her to stay with Don in exchange for giving them information about the modern world which they are vastly out of touch with. As she digs through their records she comes across startling information and the one hiding it will do anything to keep for when she has discovered a secret.

There is allot of story packed into a small amount of space, because of that details were left out, and you just have to fill in the blanks. Overall the story is unique and very interesting drawing you in you just have to look past whats missing and enjoy what is there. I got a good laugh out of Sam's first impression of Don and admired her spirit throughout. And I absolutely loved Don, he was a strong Alpha male willing to do things his way even if it meant going against everyone else for his happiness and what was best for his clan.

So yes there was more backstory I would have liked to see and a few small inconsistencies but overall this is an enjoyable short shifter read.
