Phoenix Burning by Kaitlin Maitland

Phoenix Burning
by Kaitlin Maitland

Synopsis

Innocence can burn like wildfire unleashed…

Emory Banks is perfectly happy running her flower shop in the historic downtown area. She wants nothing more than to settle down like any normal girl. Unfortunately she's packing more emotional baggage than she knows what to do with—her abusive father has left her unable to enjoy a man's touch.

Alex Dalesio is more than just a catch. Phoenix Rising's bartender has the sexual prowess to melt the most skittish lover. The no-strings-attached love affair has always been his relationship of choice until he meets an innocent florist who makes him want more. Sex between them burns hotter than the Phoenix, and Alex just might have met his match. But when the Phoenix Rising comes under fire from a mogul bent on taking over downtown, everything may wind up buried in the ashes. Not only does Donovan MacIntyre want the Phoenix, he wants Emory. And Alex isn’t about to give up either without a fight…

Our 4 Star Review

Emory has problems when is comes to letting go, when she hears about a bar where pretty much anything goes she goes there hoping it's just what she needs to let loose.

Alex is the bartender at Phoenix Rising and when he sees Emory there's something about her that has him punching to get her away as fast as possible. But when he can't get her out of his head he finds her at her flower shop and things quickly get out of control. Which is saying something for a man who has control down to an art. What is it about Emory that has him all in knots? Can he help her let go of the past and can she help him find something he never even knew he was missing?

Emory has problems that she's trying to get over and she does it in her own way. She's strong even while she thinks of herself as weak. Watching her journey throughout the story and learn how to grow makes you feel like you really know her and want to see he succeed. Alex for all his self professed skills is thrown by Embory, but I loved watching him embrace it and not run away from it. See him think he was so strong at first and then learning his shortcomings makes you see how go these two are together and for each other. Loved the story beyond their romance it helps draw you into the world. The secondary characters are all also well thought out and put together and it makes this story even better.
