Stalked by Flames (Dragon's Breath, #1)Stalked by Flames by Susan Illene

Synopsis
Bailey Monzac has just graduated college and is leaving town for her parents’ ranch in Texas when a massive earthquake unleashes the unthinkable on the world: fire-breathing dragons.

Chaos erupts as people flee for their lives, and Bailey survives only because she is somehow immune to the dragons’ flames. In the midst of the mayhem, Bailey is helped by a shape-shifting dragon named Aidan, who recognizes Bailey is a dragon slayer and will be an essential ally in the power struggle between—and within—the dragon clans.

Natural disasters intensify and dragons lay waste to the world as civilization all but collapses amid the loss of electricity and running water. As her relationship with Aidan deepens during private training sessions, Bailey must learn to harness her newfound skills or see everything she knows and loves destroyed.

Stalked by Flames is a gritty urban fantasy about a woman’s journey into a dark new reality she never could have imagined.

5 Star Review

Apocalypse-Check
Paranormal-Check
Fantastic Female Lead- Triple Check

This book came out of nowhere for me and has a little bit of everything I enjoy in a book and so much more. Plus as an added bonus it was a story line I hadn't seen before and with a market filled with just about everything you can think of that's saying something! And I absolutely LOVED it!

Bailey is trying to head home to Texas after graduating in Oklahoma, but one thing after another from a shredded tire to books needing to be returned she's quite behind schedule. And then the crazy storms start and dragons start popping up everywhere! And did one seriously just melt her shoes and half her pants? And why isn't she ash like the others who have been in the dragons fire? So much is going on all at once and surviving becomes the most important thing she can do even if she can't find a way to get home to her family.

Bailey is strong and sure of herself and know when to speak up and when to keep quite. She trusts her instincts and does what she has to in order to stay alive.

Aiden is a bit of a mystery at times, but at others he is easy to see through. He has a plan and is determined to see it through because he knows it may be the only way he'll survive in the long term. He is smarter than most give him credit and more cunning than anyone knows.

These two have to work together if they are going to survive and keep the remaining humans and Aiden's clan alive.

There are plenty of twist and turns in this one and I literally sat and read the book in one sitting not being able to put it down! Great start to a series with this world perfectly described and characters aplenty for you to fall in love with. Can't wait for more!
