Taralie Severin and her three sisters are a powerful coven of modern-day witches who banish mythical creatures in between classes and shifts at the police station. But when Taralie is kidnapped by vampires and converted into the undead, her sisters are ordered to execute her for crimes against the Milunfran order. Refusing, the sisters become fugitives from both their kind and vampires alike.
Ignorant and hunted, Taralie becomes entangled with unlikely allies, a band of vampires in hiding from the ruling vamperic government. With this new addition to their coven Taralie must balance duty with desire while learning not everything is as it seems, their enemies are worse than she knows, and she could be on the verge of ending a thousand-year-old civil war.

4.5 Stars

Tara and her sisters have fought to keep humans safe from monsters for 4 years, ever since they found out they were witches. They have all gone through so much but none of their training prepared them for vampires to come in and just take Tara and then turn her. Not knowing what to do they go to their superiors to find answers and instead are nearly killed by those who taught them everything. Now on top of that the vampires who turned her want her for something and will stop at nothing to get her. On the run they have to figure out the best way to survive and that's by them all turning into vampires. It's a hard life to understand made more difficult by the vampire government they knew nothing about. Then there's yet another group they run across, can these guys help them or will their own agendas cause even more trouble for them?

There was a review for this book that said this is like a mix of a TV show called Charmed and The Twilight. That is actually a pretty perfect description for this and while the author has made it her own in a great way it's a mix of two great series rolled into one. This story takes you on the journey of four sisters through the eyes of the oldest. You see their struggles and their triumphs and the story along the way is interesting and keeps you on your toes wondering what will happen next.

Abominitation

Taralie Severin and her sisters have secured a non-aggression pact with the rulers of the vampire world, the Noricum. Having relocated to Cannon Beach, Oregon, Alexander prepares to marry his beloved Tara. But when an encounter with average vampires goes wrong, the Severin coven’s fragile amnesty with the Noricum is destroyed. With the supremacy of their rule challenged, the Noricum set out to restore the balance of power, leaving the Severin family two choices – die on their feet, or live on their knees.

4.5 Stars

Looking through the eyes of Alex for this one we see the coven happy after coming out of their battle victors and hoping for the peace to live their lives away from the government of other vampires. Marrying Tara and enjoying her and life is all he wants, but things don't go quite as everyone planned. With a terrible loss the sisters and their husbands are forced into a fight they never wanted but will go in and win at any cost.

Alex is strong in many ways but watching Tara go through her sadness breaks him down and he doesn't know how to help her. What this group can do though is rely on each other and that's just how they do it and pick themselves all back up. Except this time not without causalities of another kind.

Watching as Alex go through his own heartache you get to see more of him and how he thinks. I'm loving this series and how each person plays a different roll in helping everyone. They journey has many ups and downs and I can't wait to see where things go from here.

Rubicon

Hidden away on a Caribbean island, Tara's body survived abomination while her mind did not. Strangled from within by Verus's accumulated memories, the eldest Severin sister struggles under the weight of so many conciseness inside her mind. But the Noricum are not idle, nor are they forgiving. Enraged by Tara's murdering of their princess, they hunt the Severins relentlessly. After turning a powerful halfling and declaring open war, the Severin coven must choose between defending the Milunfran witches protecting humanity or their own extinction.

4.5 Stars

The conclusion to the trilogy, told from the switching POV's of Alex and Tara.

Tara is healing, or at least those that inhabit her are healing and trying to learn how to live with all the knowledge they contain. Tara is in there, but she's buried beneath melineia of other memories, and her mere 30 years worth don't stand a chance of overcoming all of that.

Alex is devastated he sees her but is coming to realize it's not his wife standing before him anymore, he and the others have to learn to live with the new Taralie. As they begin to travel in the attempt to enjoy their lives without the fear of Noricum coming after them at every turn.

But the bad guys aren't going to stay away forever, it's time for the final showdown and with the startling information that was locked in Tara's mind the Severin Coven have to find a way to be free forever, otherwise everything and everyone they've fought for will be lost.

Seeing Alex deal with his "Missing" wife through his eyes you are more desperate than ever to see him find his happiness. He has strength and it's what gets him though to keep his family safe.

Taralie. See through her or should I say their eyes you realize just how much she went through and what she continues to go through to fight off the evil that's in her mind. You see her grow and become stronger than ever and her desire to protect come in more than ever before.

The ups and downs are more intense than ever before. You see the highs in the group and the funny times that accompany it and you see the lows and the devastation those lows bring. This was a great conclusion to the series and I've enjoyed it all watching the sisters from the beginning and how they overcame it all to find peace. This is definitely a series I'll be reading again and again in the future.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I'm Lauren Hodge, a chemist turned author with three children, a lot of friends no one else can see, and a swearing habit. Writing is something I stumbled into on accident. I was reading fiction for the first time as an adult and wondered if I could do it. It never crossed my mind to publish until my twin got a hold of my manuscripts and pressured me into it like the cool drug seeking kid from the After School Specials.

Because of that, my books are different. I don't write because I have a story to tell. I write because there is a story inside my head and it's merely using my fingers to get out. I enjoy writing protagonists that are flawed and enemies that aren't. Not everyone is all good or all bad and I love the philosophical process of defining that grey area.

There are two parts of communication. What is articulated and what is received for only the latter can compel action. You, the reader, are more important than me, the author. I relish understanding what you receive from my articulation. To help with that, I have editors - lots and lots of editors. Editors are the heroes authors need, but not the heroes they deserve. As an author, I strive every day to be worthy of professional editors.

I'm the oldest of seven and have an identical twin/perfect organ donor.
